Assistant Instructors (Fire Service Management)
Office of Off-Campus Academic Programs
 

The College of Applied Sciences and Arts at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) is seeking qualified applicants for positions of Assistant Instructors within the College's Office of Off-Campus Academic Programs (OCAP).  Anticipated positions will begin ASAP.  These are term appointments to teach undergraduate course(s) on an every weekend format over a five-week period at an off-campus location.

Courses needing instructors are as follows:

Labor-Management Relations
Human Resource Management
Data Interpretation
Fiscal Aspects of Fire Service
Legal Aspects of Fire Service Management
Governmental Aspects of the Fire Service
Risk Management in the Fire Service
Master Planning for Community Fire Protection
Fire Service Management
Current Issues in the Fire Service
Applications of Technical Information
Professional Development

Qualifications: Earned Bachelor's degree and 10 years experience in a fire service related discipline required. Postsecondary teaching experience and/or related industry experience required. Ability to travel to specified location for teaching and to teach specified course(s) required.

Responsibilities: To teach undergraduate course(s) as indicated below. To provide appropriate personnel at the office campus site with course syllabus, first reading assignment, and any required course handouts at least three weeks in advance of assignment. To provide grades within specified deadlines. To maintain contact with Off-Campus Academic Programs for student inquiries and grading requirements for up to 12 months from last scheduled class meeting date.

Effective Date of Appointment: ASAP
