POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Associate/Full Professor (Architecture)
School of Architecture

The School of Architecture at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time senior level design faculty member. This position will begin Fall 2009. The School offers a new 15 month Master of Architecture degree and baccalaureate degrees in Architectural Studies, Interior Design, and Fashion Design & Merchandising in an integrated, interdisciplinary design setting.

Required Qualifications: Terminal degree (such as M. Arch.) and advanced academic experience, with at least ten years of experience in some combination of academic and practice environment are required. Evidence of an established and vibrant research/scholarly/creative agenda, and licensure (EESA-NCARB for international applicants) are also required.

Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Architecture or closely related field, record of active participation in professional or academic organizations, and evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness in the design studio and lecture areas.

Responsibilities: Teaching in design studios at the upper division and graduate level, and in an area of specialization of interest and utility in the continuation of the advancement of the program. For example, environmental control systems, building technology, history, environment and behavior, or community planning in the Mississippi Delta region. These are meant only as examples and the list is not intended to be exhaustive. The key issue will be the candidate's ability to inspire our already excellent program by providing insight and opportunity to our students.
