POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant/Associate Professor (Health Care Management)
School of Allied Health
 

The School of Allied Health in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor/Associate Professor position for the baccalaureate degree program in Health Care Management beginning August 16, 2009 or until acceptable applicant is found. This is a nine-month, tenure-track position.

Qualifications: Doctorate in health services administration or a related discipline. ABD candidates will be considered, but if all requirements are not completed by the effective date of contract, a one-year appointment as instructor at a lower rate of pay will be
offered. Applicants must have postsecondary teaching experience and/or business and industry experience, and must provide evidence of potential for research in discipline-related areas. Appointment at the Associate Professor rank requires an established research record and demonstrated teaching and service accomplishments.

HCM applicants should have a strong commitment to and be capable of teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: qualitative and/or quantitative methods, program evaluation, health care management/supervision, legal and other courses in accordance with the program needs.

Responsibilities: Applicants should have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Duties include (1) teaching classes each semester; (2) conducting research in the discipline which will lead to national/international presentations and refereed publications; and (3) serving the university, the profession, and the community. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience. The applicant may assist in off-campus academic programs.
