POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Visiting Assistant/Associate/Full Professors
Off-Campus Academic Programs (Aviation Management)


The College of Applied Sciences and Arts at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) is seeking qualified applicants for anticipated positions of Visiting Assistant/Associate/Full Professor within the College's Office of Off-Campus Academic Programs (OCAP). Anticipated positions will begin January 2010. Positions are available in Aviation Management (AVM), Electronic Systems Technologies (EST), and Health Care Management (HCM). These are term appointments to teach undergraduate course(s) on an every other weekend format over a three-week period at off-campus location(s).

Courses to be taught are:

Aviation Management: Airport Planning, Airline Management, Legal Aspects of Aviation, and Air Transport Labor Relations.

Electronic Systems Technologies: Applications of Solid State Devices, Digital Circuit Applications, Microcontroller Applications Lecture, Electronics Industry Data Applications, Legal Aspect of Electronics, Communication Systems Management, and Career Development for Electronics Managers.

Health Care Management: Analysis and Evaluation of Health Care Services, Equipment and Materials Management in Health Facilities, and Long Term Care Administration.

Qualifications: Master's degree in a major appropriate to the course(s) being taught required; doctorate in appropriate area preferred. Postsecondary teaching experience and/or related industry experience required. Ability to travel to specified location for teaching and to teach specified course(s) required.

Responsibilities: To teach undergraduate course(s) as indicated above. To provide appropriate personnel at the off-campus site with course syllabus, first reading assignment, and any required course handouts at least six weeks in advance of assignment. To provide grades within specified deadlines. To maintain contact with Off-Campus Academic Programs for student inquiries and grading requirements for up to 12 months from last scheduled class meeting date.

Effective Date of Appointment: January 1, 2010.
