POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant Instructor/Visiting Lecturer (A&P, Advanced Maintenance, or Helicopter)
Department of Aviation Technologies


The College of Applied Sciences and Arts (ASA) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking a qualified applicant for a position as an Assistant Instructor/Visiting Lecturer beginning January 19, 2010. The person in this position will teach in the FAA Part 147 A&P curriculum in the baccalaureate degree program in Aviation Technologies. This is a term position and does not lead to tenure.

Required Qualifications: Earned Bachelor's degree (Assistant Instructor); at least one degree in an aviation-related discipline; Possess a valid A&P certificate.

Preferred Qualifications: Earned Master's (Visiting Lecturer) degree; Teaching experience in aviation maintenance; Three years industry experience in aviation maintenance or related field; Inspection Authorization.

Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities include: Instruction in the FAA-approved Part 147 Airframe and Powerplant curriculum; Maintaining class records as required by SIUC and FAA; Participation in program/department support activities; Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment; Other assignments as determined by the Department Chair.

Effective Date of Appointment: January 19, 2010
