POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Assistant Professor (Communication Disorders and Sciences)
Rehabilitation Institute
 

Description of Position: This is a nine-month, tenure-track appointment within the Communication Disorders and Sciences Program in the Rehabilitation Institute, College of Education and Human Services at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek a colleague who will establish a prominent personal research program within a nationally-recognized rehabilitation education program. Responsibilities include teaching courses in basic human communication processes, and one or more courses in disorders related to voice, dysphagia (swallowing), phonetics/phonology, or medical speech-language pathology (traumatic brain injury, laryngectomy, tracheostomy); conducting research leading to publication; and providing service to the department, college, university, and profession in general. An interest in autism and/or pediatrics is desirable.

Responsibilities of Position:

Requirements of Candidate: The rank of Assistant Professor requires the completed doctorate by date of hire, with a concentration in communication disorders and sciences. The candidate's area of specialty is open but should be compatible with, and preferably complement, current faculty specializations in Communication Disorders and Sciences. Preference given to applicants holding Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).

Appointment and Salary: This is a continuing tenure-track position. Appointment is for a nine-month academic year basis. Additional summer appointment may be possible contingent upon available funding and student demand. Progress in rank and salary requires demonstration of productivity in teaching, research, and professional service.
