Department of Workforce Education and Development
 

The College of Education and Human Services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Workforce Education and Development. Approximately 28 full-time faculty participate in the offering of Baccalaureate, Master's and Doctor of Philosophy in Education degree courses, program specializations, and concentrations at on-campus and off-campus sites. The department offers a major in Workforce Education and Development. Included among the department's off-campus offerings is a baccalaureate program delivered on military bases throughout the United States. The Department of Workforce Education and Development has a history of external funding, and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, research productivity, and service in the profession.

Responsibilities of Position: The Chair is the chief administrative and fiscal officer of the department and will be responsible for coordinating the academic matters of the department, research activity, faculty development, department service activities, and recruitment/retention. In addition, the Chair may teach courses and will be expected to continue a program of scholarship. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Education and Human Services.

Appointment and Salary: The position is a twelve-month, continuing appointment to begin July 1, 2010. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Effective Date of Appointment: July 1, 2010
