Lecturer (Director of Athletic Bands)

Title of Position/Rank: Term Lecturer (non-Tenure track) (Director of Athletic Bands) (Marching/Pep Bands)

Qualifications: Masters degree in music and teaching experience required. Doctorate preferred. Tuba/Euphonium preferred.

Duties: Direct the Marching Band and Pep Bands. Co-direct Symphonic Band. Other teaching assignments appropriate to the candidate's strengths and the needs of the School of Music.

The School: The School of Music offers the professional degrees Bachelor of Music with specializations in performance, piano pedagogy, theory/composition and music education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with specializations in music business and liberal arts and a BFA with a specialization in music theater. A Master of Music degree is offered with concentrations in performance, piano pedagogy, opera/musical theater, theory/composition, music history/literature and music education. The School has an active performance schedule by artist/faculty and students. The School has 28 full-time faculty and two technicians, with an enrollment of approximately 40 graduate students and 200 undergraduate students.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and rank.

Appointment: August 1, 2009 - May 15, 2010. 

Effective Date of Appointment: August 1, 2009.
