POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Visiting Scholar
Center for Archaeological Investigations
Title of Position/Rank: Visiting Scholar, 11-month
term appointment.
Requirements: Ph.D. in Anthropology or related
discipline with a specialization in archaeology. Degree must be completed by
August 16, 2010. Visiting Scholar is selected on the basis of a 5-page proposal
outlining the nature and structure of the conference, as well as on the strength
of his/her vita and references. Pre-application inquiries recommended.
Duties: Individual organizes, develops, and stages the Center for
Archaeological Investigations Visiting Scholar Conference in spring 2011,
resulting in an edited volume of selected papers from the conference. The
Visiting Scholar also assembles the volume manuscript and does substantive
editing, as needed, as well as writes the necessary volume integration and
synthesis sections. The individual is also expected to teach one seminar in
his/her specialty, interact productively with colleagues and students in the
Center and Department of Anthropology, and pursue his/her own research during
their term, which includes directing on-going research activity, as well as
preparing research proposals and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed
journals.
