Assistant Professor (Organic/Materials Chemistry)
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry


The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level specializing in organic/materials chemistry (particularly with application to renewable-energy research.) The Department offers Ph.D., M.S., B.S. and B.A. degrees in various specializations.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous externally-funded research program, mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers, and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will join a young and interdisciplinary Department that has enjoyed continued success in obtaining major (NIH/NSF/DOE) federal funding, including 7 NSF CAREER Awardees since 2000.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or closely related field, at least one year of postdoctoral research experience and a strong record of publications in both Ph.D. and postdoctoral studies are required.

Effective Date of Appointment: August 16, 2010.
